July Fourth

The Fourth of July is certainly the most American of holidays. Our chapter was proud and honored to be the driving force behind our community’s celebration of such an important day in our country’s history and in our national heritage. On Tuesday, July 4, our chapter hosted a parade in the morning and a community celebration and fireworks display in the evening. It was certainly a day fit for Lady Liberty and Uncle Sam themselves. Check out our photo album detailing all of the day’s fun on our Facebook page.

We were proud once again to partner with the City of North Canton to bring our community this fun, family-friendly day of entertainment. We’re especially thankful to our co-sponsor, The Amy Wengerd Group/ReMax Crossroads, and all of our other sponsors: Mohler Lumber, Gervasi Vineyard, Patrick DeOrio, and Mark Cerreta.

We were especially happy to continue our partnership with the Serving Area Military (S.A.M.) Center in
Massillon. We asked all those who registered to march in the parade to bring donations of nonperishable food items, personal-care essentials, paper products and cleaning supplies for the S.A.M. Center. The Center provides resources and support to active-duty military members, veterans, their families and their widows.

Bob Laase, the Center’s outreach coordinator and a 13-year Navy vet, served as our parade grand marshal this year. You can learn more about the S.A.M. Center and its mission by visiting its website.

Are you interested in sponsoring the fireworks in 2018? This annual event is huge financial undertaking for our chapter, and we rely on the community’s support to make it happen. We gladly accept donations at any time of the year. Email president@northcantonjaycees.org for more information.
